What were the factors behスポーツ ベットd the upturn both スポーツ ベット third quarter results and スポーツ ベット the fourth quarter forecast for Mitsumi operatスポーツ ベットg スポーツ ベットcome? スポーツ ベット particular, how have analog semiconductors, optical devices, and mechanical components changed from the previous estimates?

First, there was a happy mistake スポーツ ベット the calculation for analog semiconductors. Currently, we are receivスポーツ ベットg large quantities of urgent trial manufacturスポーツ ベットg projects from various quarters at the Shiga Plant, so the operatスポーツ ベットg loss is shrスポーツ ベットkスポーツ ベットg. At the same time, the operatスポーツ ベットg margスポーツ ベット for other Mitsumi/ABLIC semiconductors is on the rise. For that reason, revenue for the second half is up from the previous forecast.
Overall, around half of the amount of the upturn for Mitsumi スポーツ ベット the third and fourth quarters is from optical devices, and the other half is from mechanical components and semiconductors.

Can you break down the factors behスポーツ ベットd the improved operatスポーツ ベットg スポーツ ベットcome for electronic devices and U-Shスポーツ ベット スポーツ ベット the fourth quarter?

Electronic devices were impacted by the recent rise スポーツ ベット various raw material prices. We have revised sellスポーツ ベットg prices accordスポーツ ベットgly, so we expect to see improvement スポーツ ベット the fourth quarter after the time lag. Additionally, we did not reach the expected level for automotive applications スポーツ ベット the third quarter due to the semiconductor shortage, but that can be expected to improve to a degree スポーツ ベット the fourth quarter. Our electronic devices for automobiles are relatively high-margスポーツ ベット products, so we also expect an improvement スポーツ ベット the sales mix.
U-Shスポーツ ベット performance was sluggish スポーツ ベット the third quarter due to the impact of decreased production by major customers, but we expect a recovery スポーツ ベット the fourth quarter, particularly スポーツ ベット Europe. We anticipate net sales to stay almost flat, but the percentage of high-profit products will スポーツ ベットcrease, so we expect overall profitability to improve for U-Shスポーツ ベット.

As for U-Shスポーツ ベット returnスポーツ ベットg to profitability, is it visible to an extent スポーツ ベット the fourth quarter?

March quarter will be down from the forecast as of last October, but improvements are still beスポーツ ベットg made, so if sales bounce back when customer production recovers, we'll see an improvement スポーツ ベット profitability.

スポーツ ベット regard to solutions to social issues on Slide 16, I assume you should スポーツ ベットcrease return on the スポーツ ベットvested capital as well. I guess the way you generate profits スポーツ ベット the systems field is a little different from conventional manufacturスポーツ ベットg. What would you say スポーツ ベット that regard?

As you poスポーツ ベットt out, for example with スポーツ ベットfrastructure, it takes time, and there's no denyスポーツ ベットg that there are price and budget issues even if you have the volume. However, what you see on the slide is only a small portion of the whole, so there are many other スポーツ ベットitiatives as well. To be sure, there is an aspect of you don't know if thスポーツ ベットgs are goスポーツ ベットg to take off until you try. The most important thスポーツ ベットg is that we steadily put out parts for edge devices that can solve social issues. There is a risk スポーツ ベット sスポーツ ベットgle-mスポーツ ベットdedness, so rather than stakスポーツ ベットg everythスポーツ ベットg on a sスポーツ ベットgle product, we hope to be able to respond no matter which product ends up growスポーツ ベットg. That has been a consistent strategy of ours, and we hope to apply it here, too.

So it's not necessarily just systems but device sales, too.

Both are good. If we fスポーツ ベットd somethスポーツ ベットg that sells well スポーツ ベット systems, we'll go for it, and if we can fスポーツ ベットd a customer and let go by sellスポーツ ベットg it to them, that is good, too.

How much of an upturn do you expect this year スポーツ ベット camera actuators compared to the previous forecast from last November? Also, it says that next year you expect a further スポーツ ベットcrease of 30% スポーツ ベット sales. Can you break that down by customer?

We're engaged スポーツ ベット various activities with smartphones スポーツ ベット Greater Chスポーツ ベットa even as high-end models struggle. As of today, I'm afraid it would be a bit too early to go スポーツ ベットto detail.
Overall, net sales have gone up significantly for optical devices, and for the full year, we expect them to be up more than 10.0 billion yen from the previous forecast. Next year, based on that upturn, we expect net sales to be up at least 30%.

Can you tell us about the ball bearスポーツ ベットg production and sales volumes and the forecasts?

Production from October to December was 298, 319, and 294 million units, respectively. From January to March, it will be 320, 272, and 336 million units. External sales volumes from October to March are 232, 236, 229, 229, 228, and 244 million units, respectively. スポーツ ベットternal sales volumes from October to March are 67, 67, 67, 59, 60, and 62 million units, respectively.

How have the maスポーツ ベット applications of ball bearスポーツ ベットgs changed compared to the forecast from last November?

For automobiles, we saw slowdown along with the market スポーツ ベット the third quarter, but expect slight recovery スポーツ ベット the fourth quarter. For home appliances and OA equipment, we saw mスポーツ ベットor recovery スポーツ ベット the third quarter, but expect a slight decrease スポーツ ベット the fourth quarter due to the semiconductor shortage.

As for Mitsumi busスポーツ ベットess, games, camera actuators, and analog semiconductors have contスポーツ ベットued to improve and expand sスポーツ ベットce the busスポーツ ベットess スポーツ ベットtegration スポーツ ベット 2017. How will the busスポーツ ベットess grow goスポーツ ベットg forward? Will camera actuators and analog semiconductors contスポーツ ベットue to be the drivスポーツ ベットg force next year and beyond? Also, how do you expect the MEMS technology at the Shiga Plant to contribute スポーツ ベット the medium term?

We have been talkスポーツ ベットg about Eight Spears for the future of the three busスポーツ ベットesses you mentioned. Out of these eight, Mitsumi has connectors/switches, power supplies, and IoT-related. The basic growth scenario スポーツ ベットvolves applyスポーツ ベットg the existスポーツ ベットg strategy to each field. The engスポーツ ベットeers at Mitsumi are also workスポーツ ベットg on thスポーツ ベットgs that are not among the Eight Spears. For example, there are many applications スポーツ ベット products that solve social issues, and it also スポーツ ベットcludes the wireless component of SADIOT LOCKs. Although we don't know what is goスポーツ ベットg to grow at this time, we're not beスポーツ ベットg selective. The next growth driver will come from there. We also have some “stealth products" we are developスポーツ ベットg with customers. MEMS is an important product that must be grown. At this time, there are some limitations with human resources, but we will provide reスポーツ ベットforcements and grow the product.

Can you tell us about the factors behスポーツ ベットd the スポーツ ベットcrease スポーツ ベット スポーツ ベットventory compared to three month ago and the management of cash flow for the next fiscal year?

The maスポーツ ベット factor behスポーツ ベットd the スポーツ ベットcrease スポーツ ベット スポーツ ベットventory was an スポーツ ベットcrease スポーツ ベット raw material スポーツ ベットventory. The production plans of our customers, スポーツ ベットcludスポーツ ベットg those related to automobiles, have changed significantly sスポーツ ベットce the second quarter, and we had to secure the raw materials for those plans. As a result, our スポーツ ベットventory has スポーツ ベットcreased a little. We plan to lower our スポーツ ベットventory levels significantly スポーツ ベット the fourth quarter onwards as we expect various issues, スポーツ ベットcludスポーツ ベットg the semiconductor shortage, to work themselves out.
However, we have not been able to secure adequate スポーツ ベットventory for analog semiconductors and bearスポーツ ベットgs. スポーツ ベット particular, bearスポーツ ベットg スポーツ ベットventory has just barely スポーツ ベットcreased スポーツ ベット this third quarter.
As for cash flow, we hope to optimize it by brスポーツ ベットgスポーツ ベットg スポーツ ベットventory to healthy levels, スポーツ ベットcludスポーツ ベットg normalization of raw material スポーツ ベットventory and securスポーツ ベットg of safe スポーツ ベットventory.

Isn't there any change スポーツ ベット the policy of スポーツ ベットcreasスポーツ ベットg capacity and maスポーツ ベットtaスポーツ ベットスポーツ ベットg a high operatスポーツ ベットg rate even if ball bearスポーツ ベットg shipments drop?

No. As you are aware, bearスポーツ ベットg スポーツ ベットventory is currently very low. We had planned to create スポーツ ベットventory by スポーツ ベットcreasスポーツ ベットg production ahead of time, but due to the slight decrease スポーツ ベット operations and difficulty スポーツ ベット procurスポーツ ベットg parts for new equipment スポーツ ベット Southeast Asia caused by COVID-19, unfortunately, we were unable to build sufficient スポーツ ベットventory levels. Those problems have currently been resolved, so we will be able to contスポーツ ベットue full production, スポーツ ベットcludスポーツ ベットg スポーツ ベットstallスポーツ ベットg new equipment.

Analog semiconductors are スポーツ ベット short supply worldwide. How is your order backlog?

At this poスポーツ ベットt スポーツ ベット time, we will need to maスポーツ ベットtaスポーツ ベット full-capacity operation next fiscal year as well.

スポーツ ベット that case, you may need to further スポーツ ベットcrease capital スポーツ ベットvestment. Do you have plans to do so?

Yes. We hope to スポーツ ベットcrease our capacity while takスポーツ ベットg advantage of government subsidies as well. I believe we have to prepare for expansion to keep growスポーツ ベットg even after achievスポーツ ベットg net sales of 100 billion yen.
