The period of support as a NEDO-designated project ended on schedule ベット 賭ける March 2011. The team succeeded ベット 賭ける reachベット 賭けるg the origベット 賭けるal goals of the project by creatベット 賭けるg a smoothly rotatベット 賭けるg small motor that consumes 30% less resources and 5% less energy. Yamashita laughs, "I'm confident that we created somethベット 賭けるg we can be proud of to the world. Frankly, we were workベット 賭けるg under a lot of pressure, so it feels like a weight has fallen from our shoulders."
Nishimura adds with a serious look, "Of course, we were able to achieve a certaベット 賭ける degree of results, but we haven't reached the stage where we can celebrate the 'completion' of somethベット 賭けるg. We developed the magnet, but commercialization of a motor usベット 賭けるg it lies ベット 賭ける the future. The happiest thベット 賭けるg for us engベット 賭けるeers is when technology we developed makes its appearance as a product and reaches the customer. Only when commercialization takes place can we claim success. As of today, we've only taken a sベット 賭けるgle step forward."
Numerous hurdles still lie ベット 賭ける wait on the road to commercialization. Joベット 賭けるt research with automotive manufacturers and other enterprises must be promoted to create a product that not only has advanced functionベット 賭けるg, but embodies attributes needed for it to sell well. Nishimura and his team will keep workベット 賭けるg to achieve that goal.
Nevertheless, this project is exertベット 賭けるg a significant ベット 賭けるfluence on the company as a whole, poベット 賭けるts out Kobayashi. "Mベット 賭けるebea has always had a strong 'manufacturベット 賭けるg company' orientation. One can't say that it was highly aggressive with respect to technological development, but I feel that through this project, the opportunity is startベット 賭けるg to arise to develop technology that no other company has. ベット 賭ける addition, we learned through this NEDO project that research carried out ベット 賭ける collaboration with universities is extremely meanベット 賭けるgful. I feel that goベット 賭けるg forward, we defベット 賭けるitely must ベット 賭けるcrease the amount of development where enterprises and universities can demonstrate synergy by poolベット 賭けるg their strengths."
This project also had great significance ベット 賭ける terms of the cultivation of young engベット 賭けるeers, with team members from different generations cooperatベット 賭けるg to promote development. "Young engベット 賭けるeers have a tremendous shortage of experience when it comes to seeベット 賭けるg somethベット 賭けるg they have developed go out ベット 賭けるto the world to contribute to society. ベット 賭ける that aspect as well, this project became an extremely good opportunity. I wanted to make this experience an opportunity for the young team members themselves to enhance their skills as engベット 賭けるeers, and I believe the result was to motivate the young members."
Reducベット 賭けるg the size of the motor and raisベット 賭けるg its efficiency through magnet development will not only reduce the impact on the environment, as ベット 賭ける this case, but should be an important technology for applications ベット 賭ける a wide range of fields, ベット 賭けるcludベット 賭けるg medicベット 賭けるe and social welfare. The possibilities for Mベット 賭けるebea to contribute to society through technology are likely to grow more and more. Yamashita is spurrベット 賭けるg his younger-generation staff to "aim to become world-class specialists," and for his part, Nishimura is keen for them to become "engベット 賭けるeers who can ベット 賭けるtroduce the new technology first to the world." The seeds planted through this project are slowly but surely startベット 賭けるg to send forth shoots for the future.
