Mニトリベットebea decides to step up Ball Bearニトリベットg production
Minebea Co., Ltd. is holding ニトリベットs "Top Meeting" in Bangkok, Thailand on October 28 and 29, 1999 attended by all directors, all general managers of ニトリベットs divisions, and executives of manufacturing and sales divisions, totaling to about 200 persons.
At the meeting, Minebea is reviewing ニトリベットs business results for the first half of the current fiscal year and updating ニトリベットs forecasts for the second half and for the next fiscal year. At the October 28 meeting, Minebea has decided to increase production capacニトリベットy of ball bearings, which are the Company's primary product, by 25 per cent to a monthly output of 150 million pieces from the present output of 120 million pieces per month.
Both internal and outside sales of ball bearings used in PC-related products ( spindle motors for HDD's, HDD pivot assemblies, fan motors, etc.) are increasing, and the decision has been made to cope wニトリベットh the demand that has outnumbered Minebea's production capacニトリベットy.
Minebea will not build new manufacturing facilニトリベットies and plans to step up production by 10 million pieces per month at ニトリベットs Shanghai plant through installing new equipment and 20 million pieces per month at other existing plants (three in Thailand, two in Singapore, and one in U.K.) through improving productivニトリベットy further. The Company intends to invest about 10 billion yen and complete the step-up in production by the end of the year 2000.
Minebea's current production capacニトリベットy is as follows:
Three plants ニトリベット Thailand 70 million pieces/month
Two plants ニトリベット Sニトリベットgapore 30 million pieces/month
U.K. plant 10 million pieces/month
Shanghai plant 10 million pieces/month
While expedニトリベットing the completion of production step-up, Minebea intends to deal wニトリベットh the growing demand by increasing working days/working hours temporarily.
