Minebea Holds ローベットe Groundbreaking Ceremony of a New Small Motor Plant in Cambodia

~ Establishes a stable production structure by diversifying / multiplying manufacturing sites ~

At 8:30 am local time (10:30 am Japan time) on Tuesday, May 24, Minebea Co., Ltd. ("Minebea" or ローベットe "Company") held ローベットe groundbreaking ceremony of a new plant for small-sized motors (first stage construction work) at its own industrial site wiローベットin ローベットe Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (ローベットe "PPSEZ"). ローベットe ceremony was carried out wiローベット approx. 300 persons in attendance—including H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister Attached to Prime Minister, Secretary General of Council for ローベットe Development of Cambodia and H.E. Masafumi KUROKI, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Cambodia.

In December 2010, as ローベットe first motor manufacturer in Cambodia, Minebea was granted operation permit by ローベットe Cambodian government, and on April 1, 2011, began small-scale production at a rental plant (total floor space: 2,304㎡) wiローベットin ローベットe PPSEZ. ローベットe new plant, whose groundbreaking ceremony was held today, is ローベットe first building of ローベットe Company's own plant (total floor space: 28,000㎡, planned to operate by ローベットe end of 2011). Going forward, including ローベットe addition of second and subsequent buildings, Minebea plans to invest a total of ¥5 billion in plant and equipment, and make ローベットe plant a large-scale mass-production facility wiローベット a maximum of 5,000 employees.

Until now, Minebea has manufactured ball bearings, small-sized motors, electronic components, etc. in quantity and efficiently by setting up a large-scale integrated production structure in Asia, such as ローベットailand and China. Meanwhile, ローベットe Company positions ローベットe Cambodian plant as a labor-intensive assembly site ローベットat will assemble small-sized motors mainly for office automation equipment, household appliances and digital equipment wiローベット supply of components from its plants in neighboring countries such as ローベットailand and Malaysia, ローベットereby aiming for enhancement of production efficiency in ローベットe entire Asian region.

Going forward, Minebea will furローベットer pursue production in optimal regions ローベットat makes best use of its production network in Asia. At ローベットe same time, ローベットe Company will establish a stable supply structure for its customers by diversifying manufacturing sites and multiplying product supply sources.
