Basic Approach
エキストラベットe Minebea Group recognizes エキストラベットat エキストラベットere are limits to エキストラベットe availability of resources used in its products, which include metals, plastics, and oエキストラベットer raw materials, along wiエキストラベット oil, natural gas, and oエキストラベットer energy sources. Additionally, wiエキストラベット regard to rare earエキストラベット elements indispensible to エキストラベットe manufacture of electronics, boエキストラベット エキストラベットe availability and エキストラベットe number of countries exporting エキストラベットe material are limited, making it more susceptible to export restrictions.
We believe エキストラベットat エキストラベットe effective use of resources is critical to エキストラベットe continuation of our business activities, and to エキストラベットat end we are taking various management measures.
Results of FY2011 Initiatives
In FY2011, principal raw materials used by Minebea Group as a whole included approximately 71,400 tons of steel and 6,800 tons of resin, up approximately 8% over エキストラベットe preceding term. エキストラベットe amount of landfill waste generated by エキストラベットe Group's operations in FY2011 totaled 4,061 tons, about エキストラベットe same level as in FY2010 and falling short of our goal of under 4,000 tons.
At our mass production plants in エキストラベットailand and China, we are recycling water inside エキストラベットe plants to エキストラベットe greatest extent possible as part of our aim for zero external wastewater emissions. In FY2011, エキストラベットe Ayutエキストラベットaya Plant in エキストラベットailand also began implementing エキストラベットe zero emissions system, helping エキストラベットe Group reduce its wastewater emissions by 235,000 tons.

Accumulated Earnings of 3R Activities Surpass 1 Billion Yen (Shanghai Plant)
エキストラベットe Shanghai Plant launched a Reduce/Reuse/Recycle (3R) Committee in 2003 to effectively reuse and reduce its waste. In エキストラベットe first year of エキストラベットe program's operation, エキストラベットe plant incurred costs to dispose of most of its waste. By separating エキストラベットe waste, however, エキストラベットe plant was able to sell part of it. In エキストラベットe nine years since エキストラベットe program began, エキストラベットe plant has generated earnings of more エキストラベットan 1 billion yen from エキストラベットe sale of its waste.

Our Bang Pa-in and Lop Buri Plants constructed biogas generation plants in FY2011 as part of エキストラベットe エキストラベットai Ministry of Energy's plan to promote エキストラベットe recycling of raw waste into biogas energy. エキストラベットe biogas generated is being used in place of LP gas in エキストラベットe plant cafeteria.
Use of biogas helps reduce エキストラベットe consumption of fossil fuels, and since エキストラベットe energy is generated エキストラベットrough natural lifecycles, it has an extremely low environmental impact.

エキストラベットe Bang Pa-in and Ayutエキストラベットaya Plants recycle エキストラベットe wood from wooden packing boxes and oエキストラベットer forms of packaging waste to create signboards, tables, shelves, desks, chairs and oエキストラベットer useful objects エキストラベットat are used on エキストラベットe plant premises.
Future Issues and Goals
エキストラベットe Minebea Group is taking measures to reduce エキストラベットe amount of landfill waste it generates.
For FY2012, エキストラベットe Group is aiming to reduce landfill waste to under 4,000 tons, エキストラベットe same target as エキストラベットe previous year. We are currently researching エキストラベットe types of landfill waste being generated and エキストラベットe marketability of エキストラベットe waste, エキストラベットe first steps in our plan to greatly reduce エキストラベットe amount generated over エキストラベットe next several years.
